25 January 07: Certification... Ewart-Ohlson has received certification as a registered AS9100 and ISO9001 supplier. This means that our quality system has been reviewed by an accredited outside auditing team and has been found to meet the rigorous requirements of these standards. ISO9001 is widely recognized as quality standard for a variety of industries, and AS9100, which includes certain provision in addition to ISO9001, is the version recognized by the aerospace industry.

16 January 06: New talent... Ewart-Ohlson is pleased to welcome David Achauer as our new Plant Manager. David comes to Ewart-Ohlson with a solid engineering, manufacturing, and organizational background, and we look forward to his contributions both to our continuing success and to that of our customers.
23 September 05: Enhanced CATIA capability... As part of our commitment to stay current with aerospace machining technology, Ewart-Ohlson now has installed EdgeCam software which enables us to machine directly from native CATIA models. We have already had a CATIA CAD license and seat for several years, so this completes our suite of CATIA and CATIA-compatible engineering software.
29 April 05: "A milestone for aviation..." The Airbus A380 had a successful first take-off and landing in Toulouse, France. This USATODAY article quotes an Airbus engineering executive as saying that "the takeoff went perfectly." This was a proud day for all those who have worked so hard for this moment -- including everyone at here Ewart-Ohlson.

08 April 05: Another eighteen months on Mars... NASA has just extended the Mars Exploration Rover Mission by another year and a half. Read from the NASA's press release quoted on our Mars Exploration Rover Gallery.
24 January 05: Almost ready to fly... Airbus has officially launched its enormous new A380 jumbo jet. According to this USA TODAY article, "half the aircraft parts, by value, are built by American companies... Airbus has suppliers in 44 U.S. states, and spends more than $5.5 billion a year on aircraft parts built in the USA." Ewart-Ohlson is proud to be one of the American subcontractors for this historic project.

07 December 04: Work is underway...We're in the process of laying the foundation for our new Lucas 40T CNC horizontal boring mill. Things are still on schedule for this machine to be in service early in 2005.

14 September 04: Another new acquisition...As you can see from our updated equipment list, Ewart-Ohlson recently purchased a second Lucas 40T CNC horizontal boring mill, in order to keep up with our increasing workload. We expect this machine to be installed and in service by early 2005.

05 February 04: Congratulations again...Both Rovers are now on the surface, and, now that the JPL engineers have completed their amazing long-distance de-bugging of Spirit's memory, the scientific research can begin in earnest. 05 January 04: Congratulations to NASA and the Mars Exploration Rover Team..."Spirit" landed successfully on Saturday night and is already sending back pictures from the surface of Mars. By all accounts, the parachute assembly worked exactly as planned, and helped bring the lander to within a few kilometers of its expected landing site. 17 July 03: Both of the Mars Exploration Rovers are now on their way to the red planet ...They're both scheduled to arrive in January, 2004, when their parachute systems will be put to the test. 19 June 03: Our building expansion continues... The pictures below show the progress made so far on our 13,000 square foot building expansion. The excavators have dug the pit and begun laying the foundation for the new lathe, too.

29 May 03: MER launch rescheduled, again ... The launch of Mars Explorer Rover "A" has now been pushed back to 08 June 2003. We still plan to be in Cape Canaveral to attend the briefing and view the launch, so we'll keep you posted.
28 April 03: Date set for delayed MER launch ... The launch of Mars Explorer Rover "A" had been scheduled for 30 May 2003, but was delayed owing to a wiring problem. This has now been rectified, and the new launch date is 05 June 2003. Ewart-Ohlson plans to be there for the launch -- so we should have pictures on our website soon thereafter. Stay tuned.
17 February 03: Ewart-Ohlson can handle larger parts...now that we have purchased a 40,000# capacity overhead crane and an 18,000# capacity lift truck, for use in our new building expansion.
03 November 02: Ewart-Ohlson is expanding again...with the recent purchase of a large diameter SAFOP Leonard 1000/1800 lathe. When installed and in operation, this 200 HP machine will swing up to 98.5" (65" over the cross slide) x 21'- 4" long, and is equipped with a Fanuc 15TA CNC control.
And we've just begun ground-breaking on a expansion of our plant to accommodate this and other possible new acquisitions. Our floor area will measure 39,000' when the addition is complete early in 2003.
